Toll in boat mishap rises to 42

With the recovery of one more body this morning, the death toll in the Thekkady boat mishap has risen to 42, police said.

Body of a nine-year-old child identified as Anasuya from Tamil Nadu was found floating in the lake, Idukki Superintendent of Police Kuttapayi said.

Meanwhile, Naval divers resumed search operations in the lake this morning.

A state-run double decker boat 'Jalakanyaka" carrying 74 tourists had capsized in the Thekkadi lake in Periyar wildlife sanctuary on September 30.
