Water supply being hit in Mysore

The release of water from the Krishnarajasagar to Tamil Nadu and the steep fall in the reservoir levels, and also the fall in the Kabini reservoir levels, apart from frequent power cuts, has begun affecting water supply to Mysore. This has resulted in the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) asking consumers to take all steps to conserve water, particularly in view of the approaching summer season.

In an appeal today, the MCC commissioner said that the water levels in both Krishnarajasagar and Kabini, which supply water to Mysore, had fallen steeply. With the water table going down, yield from borewells too was affected. Besides, frequent power cuts had further affected water supply. As a result, problems were being faced in the distribution of water.

However, he said, all precautionary measures had been taken to see that there would not be any problem in the supply of water to Mysore during summer months. Against the background of the situation, however, it was necessary that consumers too take all steps to see water was not wasted in any manner.
