"Only in the post-poll situation, can such crucial issues be discussed and we cannot come to any conclusion before that. At this stage there is no use discussing it hypothetically," Bose, also the secretary of West Bengal CPI-M, told PTI here. On a persistent query that if his party would align with any other party, including the Congress, to keep BJP out of power, he reiterated that such crucial issues could be discussed and a conclusion reached only after seeing the post-poll situation.
Asked about Congress leader and Defence Minister A K Antony's recent statement that the Left should support Congress in order to prove its secular credentials, Bose said, "I don't agree with what he has said and I don't like to comment on that". On Modi he said, "I can say in a single word that if a situation takes place in which a Narendra Modi-like personality becomes the prime minister, then it will be disastrous for the country." Terming "BJP as a threat to the country", Bose also slammed the Congress, saying, "Although Congress may not be a declared communal party, it too has made compromises with communalism and had failed to prevent communal tensions in the country."
He felt that on the issue of economic policy both the Congress and the BJP were on the same page and that the saffron party cannot revert the neo-liberal policies pursued by the Congress. Rather, he alleged, BJP was much favoured by the corporate lobby and it was also moving with its communal approach. "Due to anti-people policies of the Congress-led UPA regime, a situation has been created where the BJP is trying to draw dividend out of people's anger. Congress has created two Indias, one for the rich and another for the poor. The BJP's campaign that it will create one India is also false," he said.
