Following the completion of the voting for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has relaxed the Model Code of Conduct for the state.

ECI under secretary, Krishna Kumar in a letter addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, dated April 14 said that since the poll (Lok Sabha), except polling station No 1-Ladigarh under 40-Tamlu Assembly Constituency of Nagaland parliamentary constituency has been completed, the commission decided to allow the following activities in Nagaland.

Tour of ministers to districts and accompaniment of officers on such tours; review and implementation of ongoing programme in the field; review with field officers, except for the officers who are on election duty; calling review meeting of officers except for the officers who are on election duty and tour of ministers outside the state or country.

Meanwhile, the Election Department forwarded the same directive to all the administrative officers; political parties and contesting candidates for necessary action.

Voting was held on April 9 with 88.57 per cent electorates, out of the total 11,82,948 registered voters exercising their franchise spread over 2058 polling stations.

Polling to Ladigarh Polling Station No. 1 under 40-Tamlu Assembly Constituency, Longleng district could not be held as Assam police restricted the entry of polling officials into the village because of the border dispute between Assam and Nagaland.
