An first informtion report (FRI) has been registered against the Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam for delivering hate speech at the Shiv Sena-BJP combine's joint rally in the presence of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The rally was held here on Monday in which Kadam had warned that within six months of becoming the PM, Modi will take action against those Pakistanis who have beheaded our soldiers. The Sena leader had also allegedly threatened that  ''Muslims" who vandalised police vehicles, damaged public property and attacked women police personnel during the Azad Maidan riots in August 2011 will not be spared.

The Mumbai Suburban Collector has lodged the FIR at the Bandra Kurla Complex police station on charges of promoting enmity between groups of people on the basis of caste and religion under section 153 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 123 and 125 of the Representation of Peoples Act. The collector has also sent his report on the speech to the Election Commission.

Incidentally,  both the Shiv Sena and BJP had already distanced itself from the speech. “These statements do not echo the sentiments of Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and the Shiv Sena. It is his personal view,” the Shiv Sena said in a statement.
