 "Karuna welcomes Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath's support")
Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath, a non political outfit, which recently withdrew its support to AIADMK for the April 24 lok Sabha polls, has extended its support to DMK, with its chief M Karunanidhi welcoming it.
"I welcome the decision taken at a meeting of Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath to support 36 of the total 39 constituencies across Tamil Nadu. I thank Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath," Karunanidhi said in a statement.
The 90-year-old Karunanidhi has also insisted that the Thowheed Jamath should assist in the winning of DMK alliance candidates in the remaining three constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
"As mentioned earlier, I give you the assurance that the DMK will indulge in efforts to form a secular government at the Centre," he said.
