He was addressing a gathering at the Dasera Maidan here at the launch of election campaign of NCP-Congress-PRP-RPI(K)- Yuwa Swabhiman candidate Navneet Kaur Rana.
"Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the unity of the country. Congress-NCP and allies have always worked for avoiding communal rifts. We have never done politics for the sake of politics and the Food Security Bill is revolutionary proof of that," the NCP leader said.

Charging the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance with humiliating its veteran workers, Pawar asked why Shiv Sena leaders and MPs quit the party after Balasaheb Thackeray's death. There is something gravely wrong with that party," he said and also attacked BJP for humiliating L K Advani.
"During the last elections, they begged for votes in the name of Advani and today he is made to struggle for his candidature. This indicates that neither Shiv Sena nor BJP has any respect for their leaders or workers," Pawar said.
Criticising sitting Shiv Sena MP Anand Adsul for his alleged character assassination of Navneet Kaur Rana, Pawar said that criticising women would not fetch him votes.
"It seems that Adsul and his party has totally forgotten the culture and history of Maharashtra about respecting women," he said.
Ajit Pawar praised the candidature of Navneet Rana saying, "Though she is new to politics, she has capacity, command over three languages and vision for development".
