Andhra Pradesh BJP today said that decentralised development of Seemandhra region is only possible if the party comes to power at the Centre.

"People want BJP to come to power at the Centre and Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister to provide transparent, corruption-free and stable government. After the bifurcation, the Seemandhra people want the Gujarat model development after bifurcation of the state," BJP state unit president K Haribabu said here.

"Once the BJP comes to power in Centre, we will seek all the possible help from the government to develop Seemandhra. Decentralised development of Seemandhra is only possible if BJP occupies power at the Centre," he said.

He was addressing a gathering of chartered accountants, doctors, industrialists and lawyers, who joined the party here today.

According to him, it was because of BJP's initiative, the UPA government gave its nod to a "special category" status to Seemandhra and packages for the development of backward areas of north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, besides offering tax incentives to the industry for its development.

Haribabu demanded establishment of fishing harbours at every port in the state for the benefit of fishermen community. "Maritime board should be set up for the development of all the ports in Seemandhra," he said.
