Congress President Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday said people who are criticizing Rahul Gandhi, also used to criticize Rajiv Gandhi for talking about computers and the IT revolution.
"The work done by Rajiv Gandhi for you was a result of his love for the people. He was a nice person but he had one more quality. He was very prudent. He did all the development work keeping in mind how this region will shape up in the future. People used criticized him when he talked about computers and IT revolution," said Priyanka while addressing a public meeting here.
"Short sighted people don't understand things related to the future. Now the same people are criticizing Rahul Gandhi. They claim that there has been no development in this region. Roads have been built, electricity provision has been made. Work is on to build a set of National Highways. Amethi was disconnected from rest of the country, so he ensured that there are stoppages of major trains here," she added.
In an apparent dig at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Smriti Irani, Priyanka said that the people, who are contesting from Amethi, are only interested in fighting against Rahul Gandhi, and added that they will never visit this constituency again.
