Expressing his support for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani on Sunday said he wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to suffer a defeat in the upcoming assembly polls.
"I will vote for Nitish government because I want (Prime Minister) Modi to suffer a defeat. (Prime Minister) Modi has cheated the people. He must suffer a defeat and he must be punished," Jethmalani told ANI here.
"They (BJP) should be taught a lesson for having defrauded the people and the armed forces. Democracy without education is hypocrisy without limitation," he added.
Meanwhile, BJP president Amit Shah today lambasted Nitish's claim of ushering the state into development in the company of RJD and Congress.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier lashed out at Nitish for being arrogant enough to reject the special package.
Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in five phases between October 12 and November 5.
The counting of votes will take place on November 8.
