As automated teller machines take on conventional branches in a big way, the Internet and call centres could also pose major challenges

In calendar year 2001, banks across the sector had installed 2,200 automated teller machines (ATMs). That was more than the combined installed ATM base of 2,100 at the beginning of the year.
