Centre May Float Global Sovereign Bond

The Centre may float a sovereign bond in the international market to mop up resources to liquidate part of its high-cost debt for the first time.

The move to tap the international market was one of the options being considered by the government, said senior officials connected with the exercise. In the last fiscal, the government had appointed a high-level committee on external debt to work out the modalities of reducing its stock of external debt with higher interest rates. According to the sources, the report of the committee is to be finalised shortly. It
