Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday said the central bank would strike a balance between growth and containing inflation.

“RBI is trying to find a balance between the need of growth and the need to contain inflation,” Pranab told reporters at Murshidabad in West Bengal.

Blaming the public distribution system for the price rise, the finance minister said, “When inflation cannot be controlled, we can manage it by providing food at a highly subsidised rate. So, we should emphasise on revamping the public distribution system.”
