Grameena bank earns Rs 5.67 cr net

| With 123 branches spread over Mysore, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts, CGC?s performance was up by Rs 112 crore over the previous year taking it to over Rs 684 crore. |
| Its non-plan loan disbursal accounted for Rs 210 crore, of which Rs 131 crore was for the farm sector, covering Rs 93.50 crore as loan to 27,468 farmers. Besides, another 12,972 customers had benefitted with other types of farm loans. These farmers have been brought under Cauvery Kisan Credit Card scheme. CGB has also brought 9,868 self-help groups under its loan facility by extending Rs 33.30 crore to its members. |
| The SHG women members are encouraged to exhibit and demonstrate their products at exhibitions organised by Nabard and other organisations. By forming 157 farmers' bodies, the bank has taken up skill development programme for farmers. |
| The 30-year-old CGB's innovative farm schemes have brought laurels to two of its members. Periyapatna's Liji Anitha Charles and K M Keshavamurthy were honoured recently by the Union agriculture minister in New Delhi for their performance under venture capital scheme, says CGB chairman C S Jagadish. |
| In 2006-07, the bank has set a target of Rs 850 crore of business, comprising loans to the tune of Rs 290 crore, assigned Rs 170 crore assigned to agriculture. It proposes to computerise another 20 branches, in addition to 65 branches already computerised. |
| Recognising its performance, the Karnataka government has adjudged the Cauvery Grameena Bank as the second best rural bank in 2004-05 in the state. |
