Ambushed by private insurers in the metros, the Life Insurance Corporation has asked its sales force to concentrate on high value celebrity marketing during March and has set a target of at least one Rs 25 lakh-plus policy during the month, which generates nearly 40 per cent of business for the financial year.
In addition, the sales force has been encouraged to sell pension plans on a large scale, where LIC has generated a first premium income of Rs 139.50 crore from 85,656 policies till February 15 this year and has lost out to private players. The salesforce has been asked to explain the virtues of tax benefits to consumers.
