Loan boost for Krishna district farmers

Under irrigated crops, a cotton farmer would get Rs 13,500-14,500 per hectare in kharif and Rs 20,000 for Bt cotton seed in 2008-09, according to district collector Shailaja Ramaiyer.

Chillies would get Rs 20,000 per hectare in kharif and rabi seasons while sugacane would get Rs 22,000 per hectare during kharif and Rs 17,500 during rabi.

FCV tobacco would get Rs 12,500 per hectare and country tobacco Rs 10,000. Groundnut would be given Rs 10,000 during kharif and Rs 10,500 during rabi. Sunflower farmers would be paid Rs 8,000 per hectare.

Among others, banana karpura would get Rs 16,500 and banana tissue culture Rs 36,000 per hectare. For raising mulbery, banks would give Rs 25,000 per hectare and Rs 13,000 for oil palm.

Turmeric would get Rs 22,500 per hectare, betelvine Rs 30,000 per hectare, mango Rs 9,000, gua Rs 8,000, sapota Rs 7,000, citrus Rs 10,000, coconut Rs 6,000, cashew Rs 4,000, onion Rs 7,000 and coriander Rs 4,500.

Banks would also advance loans to vegetable floriculture crops, including Rs 20,000 per hectare for hybrid tomato and Rs 8,000 for country tomato. Other vegetable crops include cabbage (Rs 12,000), papaya (Rs 26,000), lady's finger (Rs 10,000) and jasmine (Rs 8,000).

To give a big boost to medicinal and aromatic plants, banks would give farmers Rs 15,000 per hectare for raising gerkin, Rs 8,000 for nelavemu, Rs 14,000 for pashana bhedi, Rs 22,000 for kalabanda, Rs 22,300 for vasa, Rs 8,400 for aswagandhi, Rs 18,000 for amla, Rs 15,000 for lemon grass and Rs 12,000 for palmarosa.
