Re moves up to 43.52/$

Outlook: The spot rupee is expected to open in the range of 43.50/53 to a dollar on Friday.
 
Sentiment: Dull
 
  • The spot rupee rose to 43.51 on the back of dollar selling by banks and ended the day at 43.51/52.
  • Six-month and one-year forwards closed at 1.48 per cent and 1.30 per cent, respectively.
 
Money market
 
Sentiment: Bearish
 
  • Prices of government securities fell on the Centre's decision to stick to the auction next week.
  • Prices of long-tenure papers fell by 30-35 paise, whereas medium and short-tenure prices fell by 15-25 paise.
  • The 10-year 7.38 per cent 2015 gilt closed at 6.94 per cent .
  • Call money rates ruled higher at 5.50/70 per cent, while reverse repo bids were at Rs 6,000 crore.
