RIDF support of Rs 417.06-crore to AP: NABARD

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today said that it has sanctioned four minor irrigation, 38 residential schools, 109 rural roads and nine bridge projects involving loan assistance of Rs 417.06-crore to the government of Andhra Pradesh, taking the cumulative sanction to Rs 768.61-crore during 2009-10.

These projects were sanctioned under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF-XV), K V Raghavulu, CGM, NABARD said in a release.

The four minor irrigation projecs would be implemented by Irrigation and Command Area Development of the State Government in two districts--Mahabubnagar and Nellore. The irrigation projects on completion would provide irrigation to 722 hectares.

The irrigation projects, supported under RIDF, are estimated to provide recurring employment of 17 mandays per year and non-recurring employment of 0.68 lakh mandays. The 38 residential schools would be implemented by AP Social Welfare Residential Education Institution Society in 19 districts of the state.

It will provide better comprehensive infrastructure facilities like additional classrooms, computer rooms, laboratory, library, hostels, along with furniture and equipments for these rooms, drinking water and toilet facilities.

The project is likely to generate non-recurring employment of 147.99 lakh mandays and additional enrolment of 12,160 students. The 109 rural road and nine bridge projects in 17 districts will be implemented by Panchayat Raj Department.

The road and bridge projects will provide all weather roads and connectivity to the markets to the extent of 340.61 km and 514.18 metres respectively. The project is estimated to generate non-recurring employment of 39.14 lakh mandays, the release added.
