"These entities are generally unregulated and subject to inadequate independent board oversight. Besides, the downstream activities of these entities are normally not captured in the financial statements of the bank. As the activities of these entities could be a potential risk to the parent bank and could also pose a systemic risk, there is a need for placing them under suitable supervisory oversight,"said the Central bank.
