Home Secretary and Health & Family Welfare Secretary review the treatment of acid attack victims

The Union Home Secretary, Shri L.C. Goyal and the Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Shri B.P. Sharma jointly convened a meeting here today with the Chief Secretaries/Health Secretaries/Home Secretaries of States and UTs to work out the details with regard to treatment of acid attack victims. They review the current status of the efforts made by the States/UTs related to notification of victim compensation scheme and treatment of such victims, in pursuance of the directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in W.P. (Crl.) No. 129/2006 Laxmi Vs. UOI. It was noted that almost all the States/UTs have notified the victim compensation scheme for payment of compensation to victims covered under Section 357A of the Cr.P.C.
