We Must Graduate to be Self-Reliant in Weapon Systems and Armaments to Build a Safe, Secure and Progressive Nation, says President A group of probationers of Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) of 2014 (II) and 2015 (I&II) batches called on the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee today (April 14, 2016) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Addressing the probationers, the President said we must graduate to be self-reliant in weapon systems and armaments so that we can build a safe, secure and progressive nation of our dream. He said we are working to ensure that our Armed Forces will be equipped with the most capable and sophisticated armaments in the world. The Ordnance Factories must lead these initiatives. The President congratulated the Indian Ordnance Factories Organization for having registered the highest all- time turnover of Rs 14132 crore in 2015-16 against target of Rs 13500 crore set by Raksha Mantri. He expressed confidence that the set target of Rs 20000 crore by 2017-18 will be reached. The President told the young officers that they have an ideal workplace to sharpen their knowledge, hone their skills and earn varied experience. He said they will gain pride and satisfaction from the fact that they not only produce quality arms and ammunitions, they are also strengthening countrys Armed Forces and contributing thereby to national security preparedness. He called upon them never to forget that with every failed bullet or weapon, the life of a solider is at stake who is just performing the call on duty for the safety and integrity of this great country. Their work is not just about producing arms and ammunitions; it is about giving quality products, ensuring timely delivery and strengthening the hands of our Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces and Police Forces.
