At least five persons were injured and three others missing when an under construction bridge collapsed in central China's Hunan Province on Sunday.

The Xiufengmiao Bridge in Hunan's Daoxian County suddenly collapsed.

Of the eight workers on the bridge at that time, three fell into the river and remain unaccounted for.

Of the five injured, three are receiving treatment in hospital, while the other two only sustained minor injuries.

A search and rescue operation is underway.

Police have detained two people while they investigate the cause of the collapse.
