Afghan presidential election result to be announced May 15

Initially the results were scheduled to be announced May 14 but the announcement was postponed for a day due to technical problems

The much awaited result of the Afghan presidential election would be announced Thursday, election commission spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor said Wednesday.

Initially the result of the presidential polls was scheduled to be announced May 14. However, the announcement was postponed for a day due to technical problems, Xinhua reported citing the spokesman.

"Since we received the decisions of the Elections Complaints Commission (ECC) today (Wednesday) at 3 p.m., the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) would announce the final results of the presidential elections tomorrow (Thursday)," Noor told Xinhua.
