Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi has reportedly called on the armed forces to withdraw their 'ultimatum' and has asserted that he cannot be dictated internally or externally.

The military had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Morsi and his opponents to reach an agreement to meet the people's demands or it will intervene to put forward a political road map for the country and ensure that it is carried out.

According to News 24, official Twitter feed of Egyptian presidency said that Morsi asserts his grasp on constitutional legitimacy and rejects any attempt to deviate from it and further has called on the armed forces to withdraw their ultimatum.

The feed further said that Morsi refuses to be dictated either internally or externally.

According to the report, Morsi said that he is the democratically elected leader of Egypt adding that democratic 'legitimacy' is the only guarantee against violence.

Morsi further said that Egypt belongs to all and that he is not power or position hungry but is working under the 'sole legitimacy of the constitution', the report said.
