Amrut Mody School of Management (AMSoM), Ahmedabad University (AU) in collaboration with Cambridge Executive Education, Judge Business School (JBS), University of Cambridge has designed an Executive MBA programme for young entrepreneurs of family driven organisations. The programme, which was launched in Ahmedabad today, will help its participants identify and capitalise on business and family strengths for competitive advantage.

The first batch of Executive MBA will commence from January 2011 as a yearlong full-time, residential programme, including a 6-week immersion module at the University of Cambridge. Young entrepreneurs and senior employees from family driven businesses who aspire to upgrade their professional skill sets can apply for admission. On completion of the programme participants will receive an MBA degree from AU as well as one certificate each from Pembroke- King's Programme (PKP) and JBS.

Sanjay Lalbhai , President, Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) said, “I feel that the best way a leader can deal with business challenges is to treat people with the right mix of professionalism and personal touch. Our Executive MBA programme is an ideal induction course which would guide participants to maximise their family business’s strengths and minimise its vulnerabilities, thus drive high performance, ensure shareholder loyalty and sustain healthy family relationships.”

Apart from the course work the programme will have high practice oriented content through Lighthouse Project, where each participant will be required to develop a plan for his or her own business or a new business.

Praful Anubhai, Chairman, Board of Management, AU opines, “A key feature of our Executive MBA programme is the concept of mentorship wherein each participant will have a member of the faculty as a mentor who will provide guidance not only for the duration of the programme but even after its completion.”

AU being a part of Ahmedabad Education Cluster would facilitate its participant to use resources from National Institute of Design (NID), Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology (CEPT), Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA) and other prominent neighboring institutes. The cost of the programme is '8.75 lakhs, which will include tuition, lodging and boarding, course material in Ahmedabad as well as the cost of lodging and training during Cambridge immersion.
