Having concluded one year of functioning since its inception, Ahmedabad University (AU), a private non-affiliating university promoted by Ahmedabad Education Society, is planning to tie-up with Cambridge University for a one year full time executive programme.

To begin by next academic year, the programme will carry a batch size of 60 students and will be focusing on participants carrying experience of working in family-run organisations, said Prafull Anubhai, chairman, board of management, Ahmedabad University.

Moreover, in a bid to offer multi-disciplinary management programme including BBA and MBA along with streams like psychology, pharma or urban planning, Ahmedabad University is planning to tie-up with institutes like CEPT, MICA, and NID, among others for joint courses. "The idea is to provide management students an opportunity to dabble in other subjects and streams as well. We are therefore planning to introduce multidisciplinary BBA and MBA programmes along with other subjects and streams like pharma or urban planning through tie-ups with institutes like CEPT and pharmacy colleges," said Anubhai.

The university is also celebrating its first anniversary on July 24, along with AES which completes 75 years. "About 50 years back there were only a privileged few who could go to world class universities. In the last few years a larger number of students seek foreign education. Obviously there are financial, social and cultural costs. Many bright students do not have access even to this exposure. Ahmedabad University has, therefore, come up with the objective of providing Global education at local cost, context and ethos," he added.

Talking about faculty development programmes, Anubhai said, "To upgrade quality of our programmes we have implemented an intensive Faculty Development Programme. Our faculties will develop a culture of research and all AU programmes will be based on such research. To develop new faculty we are implementing the programme of fellowship to academically inclined bright students."

AU currently offers BBA, BCom. BCA, MBA and MCA degree education. The MBA programme is the only post graduate business programme in Gujarat to have been awarded the A grade by NAAC.
