In a bid to unravel factors behind success of some of the IT companies in the state, the Gujarat Electronics and Software Industries Association (GESIA) has roped in Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) to conduct a case study on the same.

Hoping to utilise research expertise of the premier B-school, the state-level body of IT/ITeS companies has asked IIM-A to conduct a case study on factors that have helped some IT companies in Gujarat achieve success.

"There have been some IT companies that have achieved success in fields like software and manufacturing. However, there is lack of proper information on the factors that helped these companies achieve success. GESIA, therefore, approached IIM-A to conduct a case study and come out with a list of such factors that can be later replicated by other members," said Nirav Shah, president of GESIA.

Once out, according to Shah, the case study will be published by GESIA and formally launched across the country.

"This will not only help IT companies to understand and exploit factors that will help them succeed in Gujarat, but also offer mileage to such successful companies in the state," Shah added.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat government has offered to sponsor 50 per cent of stall fees for members of GESIA at the upcoming IT fair in Jaipur.

"The proactive government wants to help IT companies in Gujarat gain as much visibility as possible and is encouraging our members to participate in events outside the state," said Shah.

In 2009, the now 210-strong member body saw over 30 per cent rise in membership from 140.
