LAST WEEK WE ASKED: Do you think the country needs IITs and IIMs in every state?

What country needs dearly is quality education made available to each student across all levels. So having more IITs and IIMs would serve little purpose in near future because brand name of high profile institutes won't suffice rather institutes own performance established overtime draws admission seekers. Although it would better long term future prospects but along-side we must cater to immediate requirements by improving upon standards of existing institutes in all states which is indispensable. Thus, notion of new institutes as fulfillment of distant objective is commendable but would be futile if existing deficiencies are not subjugated.

India requires quality education. IITs and IITs are brand because of the difficulty in getting admission into them. We need to ensure that students coming out of them are of global standard. This is possible only if quality infrastructure will be provided to old and new alike Or even better, if there is a government institute already there, upgrade it. In fact, the proposed step will ensure regional balance also. Besides, revamp the education system and infrastructure in government schools, which are in most disturbing situation.

Having these institutions in every state can be a tough challenge in terms of quality delivery of work. Also, managing almost 60 institutions will require a great amount of knowledge base and capital investment. Further, there is no urgent need of setting up new institutions, rather the quality of education at present institutes can be enhanced so as to make them world class. The need of time is to have quality professionals and not quantity professionals. Also the lower level institutions should be given resources to flourish themselves. So there is no need of IITs and IIMs in every state.

In India nearly 65% of the Indian population are under the age of 35 years. And our country takes in young generation power in their work force. With the motto of HAR HAATH KO HUNAR government should give away the barriers between formal training and skill development and put in place a mechanism to grant an academic equivalence to vocational qualifications. To match the skills to job in and need of upcoming years government should planed out on IIT and IIM. There is a huge
shortage of quality institution in the country.

The idea of having IIT’s and IIM’s in every state is such an invigorating idea for Indian education system. But the question to ponder is does India have highly expertise faculty members to give their service to these institutions? This is very serious problem currently being faced by many good institutions. So at present government must try to encourage bright students to take-up educational job rather than going to corporate jobs. Once the expertise will be available for educational institute than dream of having IITs and IIMs in every state will add more value.

In order to turnaround India's growth story, education is one of the pillar that India will be betting on and for doing so, IITs & IIMs will be a vital role in nurturing the future leaders of India. Due to scarcity of good premier institute's in India,many young minds are forced to go abroad for studies, which result into brain drain situation in the country and hence its become the need of an country,to start these institute in every state which will give level playing field to young minds to explore their ideas
and thoughts.
