219 smallcap stocks recover more than 15% from intra-day lows

Swan Energy, Accelya Kale, Marksans Pharma, Morepen Lab and Sudarshan Chemicals were among 70 stocks gain over 20% from their respective intra-day lows.

As many as 219 stocks from the S&P BSE Smallcap index recovered more than 15% from their intra-day lows on Wednesday after markets staged partial recovery shrugging off Donald Trump's victory in the US elections.

Of the 219 stocks, 70 stocks have rallied more than 20% from their respective intra-day lows. Swan Energy, Accelya Kale Solutions, Nava Bharat Ventures, Marksans Pharma, Sharon Bio-Medicine, Morepen Laboratories, Sudarshan Chemicals, Sadbhav Engineering, Vikas Ecotech, Redington India, SMS Pharma and Aurionpro Solutions from the smallcap index have recovered more than 25% each, and ended in green on the BSE.

The S&P BSE Smallcap index close at 12,704, down 2.66% from its Tuesday’s closing value. The index recovered 7.5% from its day’s low of 11,816. There are 756 stocks in S&P BSE Smallcap index, accounted 17% of the total BSE market capitalization.

The surprising move by the government on banning high denomination currencies also dampened investor sentiment.

"Donald Trump winning the US Presidential elections could be a mixed bag for India. On the one hand, India could get impacted by the ripples caused by the (much feared) policies sought to be implemented by Trump. On the other hand, India could grow as an important ally for US going by his views on China and Middle East,” said Dhiraj Relli, MD & CEO, HDFC Securities.

Accelya Kale Solutions ended 8% higher at Rs 1,475, bounced back 30% from day’s low, after the company reported 49% year on year (YoY) jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 24 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 (Q1FY17). Consolidated operating income grew 16% at Rs 93 crore on YoY basis.

Morepen Laboratories surged 26% from day’s low and closed at Rs 23.40, up 4.5% on BSE. The company reported more than doubled net profit at Rs 7 crore in September 2016 (Q2FY17) quarter against Rs 3.2 crore in the same quarter previous year.

PTC India Financial Services too up 7% at Rs 41.35, recovered 23% from day’s low of Rs 33.60 on BSE. The state-owned finance company said its interest income for Q2FY17 increased by 42% and loan assets by 30% YoY basis.
