Television content provider Balaji Telefilms recorded a combined volume of 1.69 crore shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) today, accounting for five times its non promoter holdings of 33 lakh shares. At the NSE, 92.95 lakh shares were traded, while at the BSE, 75.83 lakh shares changed hands.
The total combined volume is also more than the company's total number of equity shares (1.03 crore shares). As on June 30, 2001, Balaji Tele's non promoter holding accounted for 32.06 per cent of its equity capital. The company's current equity capital is to Rs 10.30 crore.
The Balaji Tele scrip also topped the most-traded list in value terms on both the exchanges today. The total combined turnover at the counter was Rs 374.26 crore during the day. On the NSE, the turnover was Rs 205.76 crore, while on the BSE it was Rs 168.50 crore. This was despite the fact that the stock declined by around one per cent today.
At NSE the stock closed down 1.5 per cent at Rs 212.25 against its previous close of Rs 215.55, while at the BSE, it closed at Rs 211.90 (Rs 213.75).
