Cardamom prices fell further by Rs 15.40, or 1.30 per cent, to Rs 1,165 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators booked profits triggered by subdued demand in spot markets.
Fresh arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom prices in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for October contract declined by Rs 15.40, or 1.30 per cent, to Rs 1,165 per kg, with a business turnover of 113 lots.
The spice for delivery in November contract eased by Rs 12.10, or 1.10 per cent, to Rs 1,091 per kg, with a trading volume of 50 lots, while current-month September contract fell by Rs 5.80, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 1,313.80 per kg, with a business volume of 129 lots.
Marketmen said besides profit booking by speculators at existing higher levels, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices at futures market here.
