Cardamom prices rose by Rs 17.70 to Rs 984 per kg in futures trade today on fall in supplies against increased buying by traders in the spot markets.
Restricted arrivals from southern producing regions also supported the uptrend.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July rose by Rs 17.70, or 1.83% to Rs 984 per kg, with a business volume of 41 lots.
The spice for delivery in June traded Rs 15.70, or 1.64% higher at Rs 969.90 per kg, with a trading volume of 175 lots.
Similarly, its prices for delivery in May surged by Rs 8.40, or 0.91% to Rs 922 per kg, with an open interest of 94 lots.
Traders said rising demand in the spot market amid slow down in arrivals from southern regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
