Castorseed futures surge on firm spot cues

Castorseed futures prices climbed up by Rs 777 to Rs 5,400 per quintal today, following aggressive buying by traders in line with firm global and domestic cues.

Market analysts said low stocks position against heavy buying by consuming industries in physical markets, in line with firm global markets sentiments, encouraged traders to build up fresh positions here in future markets.  

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed prices for March contract hardened by Rs 77, or 1.45 per cent to Rs 5,400 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,510 lots. 

Prices for May contract also jumped up by Rs 71, or 1.35 per cent, to Rs 5,321.50 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 460 lots.
