Chana prices climbed by Rs 8 to Rs 2130 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions on expectations of rise in demand at domestic markets.
Some inquiries from dal mills further fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, chana for July-month contract gained Rs 8, or 0.38 per cent to Rs 2130 per quintal with an open interest of 2497 lots.
Similarly, the chana for delivery in August contract edged up by Rs 7, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 2163 per quintal in 87 lots, while current month June contract held steady at Rs 2064 per quintal with a business turnover of 418 lots.
Traders said speculators increased their positions on pick up in demand in spot markets, which helped chana prices to improve marginally at futures trade.
