Copper up 0.1% on spot demand

Metal for delivery in far-month February last year contracts edged up by 0.12%

Copper prices rose marginally by 0.13% to Rs 447.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions even as metal weakened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November traded higher by 60 paise, or 0.13%, to Rs 447.20 per kg in business turnover of 627 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month February last year contracts edged up by 55 paise, or 0.12%, to Rs 457.20 per kg in 20 lots.

Market analysts said increased demand from domestic consuming industries influenced copper prices in futures trade here but metal's losses at the London Metal Exchange (LME) limited gains.

 Globally, copper for delivery in three months declined as much as 0.50% to $7,152 a tonne at the LME.
