Gold prices rose by Rs 58 to Rs 16,770 per ten grams in futures trading today as traders indulged in enlarging positions on the back of a firming global trend.
Gold for delivery in August rose by Rs 58 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 16,770 per ten grams at the Multi Commodity Exchange with an open interest of 186 lots.
April gold also moved up by Rs 26 or 0.16 per cent to Rs 16,631 per ten grams in a turnover of 14,176 lots.
The rise in gold is attributed to a firming global trend, traders said.
Meanwhile, gold rose by $7.10 to $1099.50 an ounce in New York last evening.
