International gold prices may touch a high of $2,000 per ounce (from the current level of around $1,200) in the next two-three years, a top industry official said today.
Gold prices are expected to climb further from the current rates for some more time before a "slight correction", chairman of the Rs 20,000-crore Bangalore-based Rajesh Exports Ltd Rajesh Mehta said.
While it's very difficult to predict, he expects that gold prices would move "much higher" than the current levels in two-three years.
"We may see $1,500 (per ounce)..... $2,000 (per ounce) also in the next two-three years," he told reporters in response to questions on the gold price movement.
