Gur prices firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale gur (jaggery) market today on tight supply against increased demand from stockists.

Traders said less arrivals due to less production in manufacturing units against increased demand mainly pushed up wholesale gur prices.  

In the national capital, gur pedi prices rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.

In Muzzfarnagar, gur raskat and chakku prices ended higher at Rs 2,300-2,375 and Rs 2,450-2,625 from previous levels of Rs 2,250-2,375 and Rs 2,450-2,550 per quintal, respectively. 

Gur pedi in Muradnagar also moved up by Rs 50 to Rs 2,600-2,675 per quintal.

Following were today's quotations per quintal:

Chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,900-3,000, Dhayya Rs 2,900-3,000, and Shakkar Rs 3,000-3,100
Muzaffarnagar: Raskat Rs 2,300-2,375, chakku Rs 2,450-2,625 and Khurpa Rs 2,450-2,500
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,600-2,675 and Dhaya Rs 2,550-2,650
