Maize prices fell by Rs 21 to Rs 1,341.50 per quintal in futures trade today as traders preferred to off-load their positions in tandem with weak domestic markets cues.
Traders said weak demand from bio-products making industries along with increased stocks in physical markets, mainly put pressure on maize future prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize price for June delivery declined by Rs 21, or 1.54%, to Rs 1,341.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,150 lots.
Maize for delivery in May went down by Rs 10.50, or 0.80%, to Rs 1,309.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 20,400 lots.
