Markets off day's high

The Sensex surged to a high of 15,339 - up 166 points. The index is now up 108 points at 15,282.

The Nifty, meanwhile, is up 18 points at 4,532. earlier it touched a high of 4,555 - up 41 points.

The Sensex is moving sideways and is now at 15,291, up 116 points.

TCS has surged 4.5% to Rs 521. HDFC and Hindustan Unilever have gained over 3% each to Rs 2,441 and Rs 277, respectively.

SBI and Wipro have added 2.5% each to Rs 1,700 and Rs 478, respectively. Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have advanced 2% each.

Meanwhile, Sun Pharma has slipped 4% to Rs 1,141. Hero Honda, Bharti Airtel, BHEL and ITC have dropped 1-2% each.

The market breadth is positive Out of 2,647 stocks traded, 1,473 have advanced while 1,082 have declined.

The Nifty is now up 21 points at 4,534.

Among the Nifty stocks, SAIL has surged 5% to Rs 177. BPCL and Ambuja Cements have added 2-3% each. Punjab National Bank, Jindal Steel, ABB and Nalco, however, continue to trade in red.
