At 12:50 p.m., the S&P BSE Sensex was down by 88 points, or 0.32%, trading at 27,738 level, while Nifty hovered around 8,567, down 24 points.
GAIL has emerged as the biggest gainer on Sensex, shooting up by almost 3%. Other major gainers are ONGC, Power Grid and Mahindra and Mahindra, all posting gains around 1.5%. Cipla, Coal India, and Bharti Airtel are the major losers, going down between 3%-2%.

Asian stocks extended losses on Friday as worries about the health of Deutsche Bank weighed on financial shares and as oil prices inched back from near-one month highs on scepticism over OPEC's new plan to curb output.
Japan's Nikkei closed down 1.5% after weaker-than-expected consumption and inflation data. It recorded a loss of 2.6% for the month, but ended the quarter up 5.6%. Hang Sheng fell by 1.6%.
