Mfs Net Inflow At Rs 2239 Crore In Apr-May

The mutual fund sector has mobilised Rs 38,774.67 crore during April and May 2002, while repurchases and redemptions have been to the tune of Rs 36,535.37 crore in the two months, leaving the sector with a net inflows of Rs 2,239.30 crore.

However mobilisations were lower in May at Rs 17,786.67 crore compared with April when inflows amounted to Rs 20,988 crore.

Assets under management of the funds have also shrunk by around Rs 600 crore during May. Redemptions were however lower last month at Rs 17,319 crore compared with Rs 19,216 crore in the previous month.

During the first two months of this fiscal, the Unit Trust of India has seen net outflows of Rs 2,290 crore.

The Trust faced redemptions of Rs 1,948 crore in the month of May alone, while in April redemptions were at Rs 749 crore - out of which Rs 470 crore was due to redemptions from a maturing scheme.

UTI's share of assets in the mutual fund sector stood at 47.64 per cent at the end of May, while that of the private sector funds stood at 44.7 per cent.
