Markets continue to trade in green, albeit off the day's high. The Sensex opened at 20,449 and touched a high of 20,670 on strong cues from global markets. However, the index dropped from there and is now up 177 points at 20,584.
Nifty is up 53 points at 6,198.
BSE consumer durables index has gained 2% at 6,725. Metal, realty and PSU indices have jumped 1-2% each.
The mid and small-cap indices have outperformed the broader markets and is now up 1.5% and 1.2%, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates has gained 4% at Rs 134. Metal stocks - Sterlite and Hindalco - added over 2.6% each to Rs 175 and Rs 208, respectively.
Ambuja Cements, Tata Steel, Kotak Bank and SAIL are among the other gainers in the Nifty. Maruti, Hero Honda and Suzlon are also in green.
However, BPCL and ONGC - among the oil & gas space - have dropped in red.
