The NSE Nifty is up 29 points at 4,078.
ONGC has surged 4.5% to Rs 887. Tata Steel has gained 3.3% at Rs 688.
SBI and Tata Motors have rallied 3% each to Rs 1,260 and Rs 412, respectively.
NTPC and Ambuja Cements have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 166 and Rs 83, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has added nearly 2% to Rs 219. Relaince and Cipla have gained 1.7% each at Rs 2,051 and Rs 215, respectively.
Maruti is up 1% at Rs 570.
Ranbaxy has slumped 8% to Rs 489.
Infosys and Satyam have tumbled over 5% each to Rs 1,590 and Rs 421, respectively. TCS has shed 2.5% at Rs 779, and Wipro has slipped 1.7% to Rs 405.
HDFC has dropped 3.7% to Rs 1,926, and HDFC Bank has plunged nearly 3% to Rs 1,037.
BHEL has shed 2.7% at Rs 1,480. Hindalco is down 1% at Rs 154.
Out of 2,354 stocks traded so far, 1,339 have declined, 956 have advanced and 59 are unchanged.
