Oilmeals export up by 61% in Oct

Oilmeals export jumped by 61 per cent to 4,98,159 tonnes in October on high demand for soyameal and rapeseed meal following d0rought in Russia, an industry body said today.

The country had exported 3,09,886 tonnes in the same month last yea.

"Export of soyabean meal and rapeseed meal jumped to nearly double compared to October 2009, thanks to gradual improvement in market in last two months due to draught in Russia," Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) said in a statement.

During April-October period, oilmeals export rose by 21 per cent to 1.87 million tonnes as against 1.54 million tonnes in the year-ago period.
