Pepper, jeera turn weak on subdued demand

Black pepper and jeera prices fell by Rs 200 per quintal each in the national capital today due to slowing demand at prevailing higher prices.

Weak trend in futures trade and increased arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on the prices.

Black pepper prices declined by Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 22,500-22,700 per quintal on fresh selling by stockists.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also declined by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 14,300-14,500 and Rs 15,300-15,900 per quintal.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by local parties at higher prices, mainly attributed to fall in pepper and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
