Limited arrival from producing regions pushed the price up

Potato prices rose by Rs 14 to Rs 770 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators created fresh positions on the back of rising demand in domestic market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the March contract rose by Rs 14, or 1.85% to Rs 770 per quintal, with a trading volume of 95 lots.
The April contract also traded higher by Rs 13.90, or 1.94% to Rs 728 per quintal with a business volume of 22 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise to firming spot market trend against restricted arrivals from producing belts of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
