Provisional: Benchmark indices close 1% lower

Markets closed in the red for fourth consecutive day with the benchmark indices losing over 1% each on Friday on fears of rate hike by the central bank next week after consumer price inflation in November remained in double digits.

The Sensex lost 191 points to end the day at 20,734 and the NIfty gave off 69 points to close at 6,168 (provisional).
