Rbi Bans Fresh Portfolio Investments By Ocbs

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today prohibited overseas corporate bodies (OCBs) from making fresh investments in the country under the portfolio investment scheme (PIS). By inference, the RBI prohibition applies only to investments in the secondary stock market but does not apply to investments in initial public offers or in private placements of equity.
