The Indian Silk Promotion Council (ISPC) has urged the Centre to reduce import duty on raw silk to 15 per cent from 35 per cent to check smuggling and to bring the duty at par with neighbouring countries.

It has also asked for a similar rate of interest for pre- and post-shipment for 180 days and exemption of export credit from income tax.
